Jumping Jacks
(4–5 years)
Jumping Jacks is a creative preschool dance program for energetic 4–5-year-olds ready to take class without a caregiver.
Designed for kinder kids, it builds foundational dance and rhythm skills through imaginative play and storytelling—without focusing on a single dance style. Themes like Treasure Island, Rocket to the Moon, and Flying Carpet Adventures keep kids engaged while they move, explore, and have fun.
With 4 unique programs taught across one year, it’s ideal for children in their final year of kinder. Prep students are also welcome if they prefer this playful approach.

PG1 Contemporary
Contemporary Dance encourages individuality, confidence and self-expression.
Prep & Grade 1 students learn the foundations of contemporary dance technique including an introduction to floor-work, finding freedom and release through movement, travelling steps and partner work.
In every contemporary class, we include a creative element. Students are be given a theme or set of guidelines and could be asked to perform an improvisation or choreograph their own dance ‘phrase’, either individually or in a group.
In Terms 3 and 4, students prepare a dance to perform at the Nook Dance Centre’s End-of-Year Show at a local theatre!

In our Contemporary Dance & Movement Lab classes, students learn to:
Move efficiently and safely,
•
improve their co-ordination and body awareness and

The 'Movement Lab' portion of the class is where creativity is unleashed. Students are given tasks and improvisation scores which will be used to generate movement. Students collaborate with teachers to choreograph original dance works that will be presented at Nook Dance Centre performances throughout the year.
Movement Lab is all about:
Helping our students to find their own unique approach to movement and movement style.
•
Inviting our students to connect with their peers—face to face—as they work together to create movement.
