Kinderballet™ ‘Next Steps’ (Prep-Grade 1 Ballet)

Take your next steps with Kinderballet™! Following on from the preschool Kinderballet™ programs, ‘Next Steps’ is developed to be an inspiring, challenging and fun approach to learning classical ballet.

‘Next Steps’ students will learn a traditional Ballet in term 1 and 2. In 2024 this will be Sleeping Beauty. Students become immersed in the storyline and within this context they learn classical ballet technique and develop self-expression through dance.

We find that the ‘Next Steps’ program provides a great balance between developing classical Ballet technique and exploring storytelling through Ballet.

In term 4, Prep-Grade 1 Ballet students are invited to perform in our Nook Dance Centre End-of-Year Show! The dancers will learn a dance in their classes during term 3 and 4 to perform at a local theatre!

Prep-Grade 1 Contemporary Dance

Prep-Grade 1 Contemporary Dance students learn the foundations of Contemporary Dance technique including an introduction to floor-work, finding freedom and release through movement, travelling steps and partner work.

In every Contemporary class, we include a creative element which could be improvisation (creating movement spontaneously, guided by a theme or set of guidelines) or Choreography (Creating their own dance ‘phrase’ by themselves or in a group, guided by a theme or set of guidelines).

Contemporary Dance encourages individuality, confidence and self expression.

In term 4, Prep-Grade 1 Contemporary students are invited to perform in our Nook Dance Centre End-of-Year Show! The dancers will work on a dance piece in their classes during term 3 and 4 to perform at a local theatre!
