Our youngest students are introduced to dance through the Kinderballet™ programs. These highly imaginative and thoroughly age appropriate preschool dance programs have been taught across Australia for over 10 years and are constantly improving and evolving. The programs have been developed in consultation with early childhood specialists and have a strong focus on learning through play, which is one of the most effective ways for preschool aged children to learn any skill. Most importantly, Kinderballet™ classes allow our students to learn all the foundational dance skills while having fun.

Mummy and me
(2 - 3.5 year olds)

The Mummy and Me class (or Daddy and me, Grandma and me, Grandpa and me… the list goes on!) gives 2 - 3.5 year-olds the opportunity to share their first dance experience with a trusted caregiver. The Mummy and Me programs have an emphasis on use of props and imagery, songs and dancing to music, musical response through movement, basic movement co-ordination of gross motor skills and a minor introduction to a couple of ballet steps.

Mummy and Me begins with a 3-class-trial package to give your child time to settle into the program. After 3 classes you will know for sure whether or not you would like to continue!

Tots
(3.5 - 5 year olds)

The Tots program is for children who are ready to take instruction from a teacher independently from their caregiver.

The program revolves around a single theme which lasts for a term, allowing the child to become familiar with the routine of the class. This gives them that sense of security and helps to develop particular movement skills through repetition.
There is a strong narrative that runs through all the themes to keep the children’s interest, while learning the foundations of dance and therefore, learning through the sense of play.

Kiddies
(4 - 5 year olds)

The Kiddies program is for children who are in their final year of kinder prior to going to school. Children are expected to be more acquainted with working in a group under the guidance of a teacher.
Like the Tots program, the Kiddies program revolves around a single theme which lasts for a term, allowing the child to become familiar with the routine of the class. This gives them that sense of security and helps to develop particular movement skills through repetition.

There is a strong narrative that runs through all the themes to keep the children’s interest, while learning the foundations of dance and therefore, learning through the sense of play.

The programs become a little more complex as the year progresses, to accommodate the children’s preparation for school readiness.

What to wear

Preschool students can wear anything they’d like, whether it be a tracksuit, a dress up, leotard and skirt or whatever else they feel comfortable in!

Bare feet are perfectly appropriate for all Kinderballet classes, but ballet shoes can be worn if desired (please note: if opting for ballet shoes, they must be 'purpose-made' ballet shoes. 'Ballet flats' with a hard sole cannot be worn for classes due to safety concerns)
Ballet shoes can be ordered at an affordable price through the Kinderballet website: www.kinderballet.com.au
